Clasped Weft Weaving"

Clasped weft is a brilliant technique to learn even if you only have a basic rigid heddle loom as it enables you to have two colours across the width of the loom. However in this workshop we will be able to combine twill patterns on a 4 shaft table loom to create a unique woven piece. This will suit beginners and weavers wanting to develop their skills further, as Jan will show you how to manipulate the weft thread within the structure. The looms will be set up and ready to go on the day

This two day course will take you through the whole process of winding a warp and dressing a loom to weaving cloth. Jan will provide you with all the tips, tricks and techniques to ease your journey into weaving.

Classic Tweed Weaving"

Join Jan for a day of weaving on a 4 shaft table loom and learn to weave a classic Tweed associated with Harris Tweed.

Twill has many variations, but all are characterised by the diagonal lines formed in the weave structure. Herringbone being the most recognisable, Jan will teach you one of these patterns.

This will suit absolute beginners but also weavers wanting to develop their skills further, as Jan will show you how to create new patterns within the structure. Taking the mystery out of pattern reading . The aim of the day is you will go home with your own unique piece of tweed
